DIRECTIONS:

RINSE THE RICE

STEP 1

Place the rice into a fine mesh strainer and rinse with cold water (tap water). Wash the rice for about 20 seconds until the water runs clear. This will help get rid of the dusty starch and prevent the rice from being too sticky.

STEP 2

Add water into a medium size nonstick pot. The amount of water needed will be based on the type of rice you use.

- White Basmati rice: for 1 cup (6 oz.) of rice adds 2 cups of water.

- White Long Grain rice: for 1 cup (6 oz.of rice adds 1 ½ (one and halfcup of water.

If you will be using other types of rice, a ratio of 1 cup rice to 2 cups water (which you can scale up or down depending on how you like your rice) is usually followed but always check the instructions on the packaging to see the recommended amount of water for the type of rice you’ll be cooking.

STEP 3

Place the pot and put the stove on medium heat. Add 1 tsp. butter¾ (three-quarters) tsp. salt - or to your preference - and 1 ¾ (one and three-quarters) tsp Tahoon - Kidra Yellow Rice Spice (Saffron Rice Spice) - or to your preference - to the water, cover and keep it on medium heat until the water boils.

To achieve its best flavor, do not add any other spices aside from the Tahoon - Kidra Yellow Rice Spice (Saffron Rice Spice).

STEP 4

Add the rice to the pot and stir. Cover and cook it on low heat for about 18 minutes until the water disappears.

Do NOT take off the lid! Keeping the steam inside the pot is important to make sure the rice will be cooked thoroughly. After 18 minutes, check the rice and see if it needs more cooking. You may continue to cook it for another minute or two then turn off the stove. Cover the pot and let it sit for a few minutes.

STEP 5

Place the 1 cup mix vegetables into the pot, add about 2.5 cups tap water, preheat stove and place the pan on stove until the water starts to boil; keep the water boiling for about 2 minutes then add ¼ (quarter) tsp. salt - or to your preference - and keep it boiling for 2 more minutes.

Do NOT adds salt to the water before boiling, so you can prevent the colors of the mixed vegetables from changing.

STEP 6

When the mix vegetables are done, put them into a fine mesh strainer on top of a pot and let water drain completely.

STEP 7

When the rice is almost done, add boiled mix vegetables on top of rice and stir it with the yellow rice (saffron rice) thoroughly, add 1 tsp. butter - or to your preference - on top of rice then place back the lid, and turn off the heat for about 5 minutes to get the flavor.

STEP 8

Once it’s done, scoop out the yellow rice (saffron rice) and mix vegetables using (preferably) a silicone or plastic spatula to transfer it to a serving dish, Enjoy!
